Drool over this one : The Lamborghini Reventon

Ever thought of a perfect life ? That dream would’ve definitely contained a car.Now consider the new Lamborghini Reventon for a car.

The first thought that came to my mind when I saw this car was that: I want it.No matter that it costs 1 million euros (before taxes).I am ready to work as a slave for the rest of my life just to get this car, only if …. only if Lamborghini had decided to make more than 20 of this.I can’t understand why only 20 of this beautiful beasts are being made when Lamborghini can make billions out of it.

As far as its specifications go,it has a 6.5 L V12-hand built engine which generates a whopping 650 hp at 8000 rpm and 660 Nm torque.It can go from 0-62 mph in just 3.4 seconds (!!) and has a maximum speed of 211 mph.It has a 4-wheel drive and is based on the Murcielago.You also get a aeronautically designed carbon body,LED and Xenon headlights and stylish tail lights ,scissor-like doors and a cockpit to die for.It is coated in specially developed Grey Barra paint.

This is surely the car of my dreams.It has a class of its own.It is an eye-candy,has power,luxury,safety and is definitely better than Gallardo.It definitely has a great chance of winning all the awards in the luxury car segment.In fact it should.

I still haven’t got over this masterpiece and I am not sure when I will able to.I also sincerely wish that Lamborghini decide to make more than 20 of Reventon when I will be able to afford it .In fact I will be saving money in case any of its 20 present owners decide to sell it in future or if I am able to know their identities and convince them into selling this to me .

Last 6 months …

I am writing a blog after a long time.Had a lot of topics to right but no will .However,these days I am bored like anything even after trying every available thing.Net was never so uninteresting and I don’t want to play CZ and POP2 whole day long.So thought why not to encapsulate the last 6 months of my life which have definitely changed me a lot.

Starting with the summer project,in continuation and addition to the earlier post,that was the first time I really started having night-outs, playing games and living in our then UG1 workspace.Yeah,literally we lived in the UG1 workspace.I even remember having serious discussions about bringing 2 mattresses to the workspace .People may find it hard to believe but sleeping in the lab absolutely rocks !! Also,submitted the files as a patch on bugzilla ,made the converter and its corresponding installers.Nothing about which among the two projects was selected was told to us.

Then I had vacations for around a month.Wasn’t able to stay long in house due to one reason or the other .However, they were quite good considering the quality of food I was eating and also meeting parents and sisters .But these days didn’t last long and I had to return for the 3rd sem.

I had heard a lot about “The 3rd sem” as it was thought to be the best sem for cse students in terms of free time.But I seem to have no time because of one assignment deadline or the other.I think this is because I utilize all my free time playing games and doing bc and start the assignments only at the 11th hour but I am enjoying it .Among the other major changes are that our whole batch has started living in the same hostel.This is a huge bonus as there a lot of people available to talk and do bc .Also, I am able to remain in contact with many people I had always wanted to talk in 1st year but was not able to do so because of jee preparations.

We also have to live without wireless lan because of some administrative delays .As a result,started going to labs for the first time .Had another couple of experiences of sleeping in lab .We are hoping to get lan in a couple of weeks.Lets see if the wish is fulfilled.

Slept a lot in classes.In fact,I was rarely awake .Never earlier had I thought about not listening completely in any class.However,this sem I started seeing classes as a time to sleep .However teaching habits of professors and course contents are also responsible for this change apart from late night bc and gaming.

Also had a big misunderstanding with many of my batchmates.Learned a helluva lot about thinking and characters of people and also about expressing your views in a big group.It was bright in this aspect as I am ever interested in learning people,their thoughts and characters.Rest of the aspects were not so peaceful.

Also, I am making a wave media player in C# as part of the ITWS 3 course.Using Studio is very easy and it has a lot of functionalities as well.It is among the small list of things I like Microsoft for.

A group of us also had a night of free talk on Sanrag’s birthday in which any person asked the other about any topic(Obviously with no hard feelings) for e.g. about future plans about life,job,thoughts about a specific person or topic etc.This was among the best discussions I have ever had in my life . It also sprang a few pleasant surprises regarding people’s view of point on some topics.Wish we have more of it.I am all for it !!.

Also,started playing “Prince of Persia : The Warrior Within”.This is the first game I aim to finish completely .I am enjoying it like anything.The Prince’s antics leave me spellbound .Will write a post on it when I finish it.Have finished around 50%-60% of it at present.Can’t believe how Punia finished it in around 12 hrs.I feel it is impossible even after reading on wikipedia that a normal player can finish it in 12-16 hours.It also means I don’t have the skills of a normal player .

This was all the major things that I can think of at present.Have to hurry to a class .Will add more later if I find something interesting.However,one last thing: I have definitely changed a lot in the last 6 months.You can observe it from the number of firsts in the post.I hope this was for the better.

Harry Potter 7 : The Deathly Hallows

**Warning : This Post contains Spoilers**

I know I am late to write this post but I just didn’t feel like blogging when I finished reading the book.I was more interested in imagining what I would’ve done had I been in Harry’s place.For the record, I read the leaked cam print of the book around 2 days before the official release.Though it was not very convenient, I had great fun in reading the book in about 13 hours.

I generally felt that this book was good and the timely surprises keeps one’s interest in this book going.However,it also brings an end to highly successful series of harry potter book, though I think Rowling is going to write some additional books not directly related to harry’s life but more as informative books.

Among the things that surprised me in this book are:

1.Negative side of Albus Dumbledore and his knowledge about things such as his own death.

2.Positive side of Severus Snape.

3.Ron leaving Harry and Hermoine in the forest,he should’ve learned from his past mistake according to me.

4.The Seven Potters , I thought this was too stupid.

5.Change of heart for Kreacher , this was too kind.

6.Voldemort overtakes the Ministry of Magic.

I had also read a fake Harry Potter book. I was amazed to see that a substantial part of the story they had written was similar to that in the real novel.

1.Harry Potter is a Horcrux.

2.Harry leaves the real world, talks to Dumbledore and comes back.

3.R.A.B. is Regulus Arcturus Black.

Summer Project !!

This summer I took a project in the CVIT ( Centre for Visual Information Technology ) Department under Professor C.V.Jawahar.The project I am working on is “A Desktop Application for Font Encoding Conversion” .As a part of this project we are also supposed to add support for more scripts in the Padma Firefox extension.For those who are not familiar with the topic (as was I,before getting the project ) , here’s a short description :

At present ,there are many different font encodings for languages other than English with each vendor having a different encoding for his publication.Every time we visit a page which is encoded in a proprietary (non-standard) font , we have to download the font file to view it.To overcome this and many similar problems , Unicode is being promoted as a standard .As of now, font converters (which convert proprietary fonts into Unicode ) are available only as browser extensions , server side libraries or command line tools.So , the main aim of our project is to wrap a GUI around the available converters. We are using PHP – Gtk to build this GUI and are going to use the converters written in PHP.Also , we are supposed to build a one-click package for Windows and Debian GNU/Linux .

Currently four of us are working on this project in teams of two , with each team to develop a seperate GUI application . Then the better application will be selected for distribution ( Competition everywhere :-< ) . As far as my progress in this project is concerned,I have done my homework ,but at present I am finding it hard to generate enough interest in order to finish the project.As a result, I haven’t done enough work in the last 2-3 days .But life is not so easy !! I will have to finish my work so that I can go home (this is the last vacation for us for a long-long time) and also I would want my GUI to be selected .Anyways,I am finishing this post to start working(finally !!).

PS1:Hope this post is better than the previous one .

PS2: Writing posts is not an easy task.This one took more than 2 hours !! (phew)
